Team GB has come home from Rio 2016 with an outstanding 67 medals, 27 of which are gold.

Excitement in the world of British gymnastics as the outstanding Max Whitlock became Britain's first ever gold medallist in artistic gymnastics winning two gold medals and one bronze. His performances were absolutely outstanding. He started Gymnastic Classes when he was just 7 years old, if you've been inspired by the outstanding performances seen at Rio 2016, give us a call.

An Outstanding Performance From Max Whitlock

He was absolutely amazing. His routine on the pommel horse and floor were second to none, truly gold medal performances. His floor routine was breathtaking, the tumbles were very well performed and the landings were outstanding.

He said “The floor gold was a surprise", but that's likely him being modest, he is an incredible athlete and his performance deserved gold. It just goes to showwhat you can do with hard work and dedication. He further added, saying he hoped he could “spur the youngsters on". We offer outstanding Gymnastic Classes which include Max Whitlock's favourite piece of apparatus, the pommel horse.

A New Source Of Inspiration

National stars like Max Whitlock and Louis Smith are in their 20's. However, when we look across the pond to our friends in the USA, a new face is inspiring the next generation of gymnasts all over the world. 16 year old Laurie Hernandez. Could you imagine representing your country in the summer Olympics at age 16? Most 16 year old are focused on their GCSE's hoping to get the grades they need, but Laurie Hernandez was in Rio representing her country. Utterly fantastic. That's the spirit of the Olympics, even though she's team USA; it's a pleasure to watch such a talented athlete perform at the international level. We expect to see great performances from her in the years to come.

Onwards To Tokyo!

So who should we be looking out for in Tokyo 2020? The BBC suggests that we watch out for Ellie Downie. Although falling on her neck during the Rio qualifying stages, finishing 13th in the all-around, she was the first British woman to win a medal in all-around at a major gymnastics championships. She will be only 20 when flame reaches Tokyo, so we still have plenty to see from this outstanding gymnast.
